You set your sights on me and made it your life's work to rescue and redeem me. You always put me before yourself. You look at me with fire in your eyes but pull me close in an embrace of tenderness and mercy. When I am with you I always feel cherished. I am safe in your arms. With you in my life, I lack nothing...yet...
I have not always been faithful to you. There are times when I question your intentions and doubt the promises you have made...even though you have proven yourself more than trustworthy! I have strayed in my affections. I have sought pleasure and satisfaction in things other than in you. I have wandered into places that you have deemed out of bounds for me - not because you want to control me but because you want to protect me. I have put things like my comfort, my desires, my wants, my goals, above your perfect provision and peace. I have forgotten where I came from, the height from which I have fallen; and I have allowed pride to grow where there is only room for gratitude. I have allowed self pity to choke out true joy.
