Tonight I found myself on rather sacred ground. I brought dinner over to a friend and her family. She has recently had surgery to remove a portion of her colon after cancer was discovered; and she is home recovering.  Literally, moments prior to my arrival, she had received a phone call from her doctor. The news: cancer was found in 2 of the 35 lymphnodes they removed from her body. She will have to undergo a six month round of chemotherapy. She and her family were still a bit shocked from the news. The atmosphere was heavy, although, it was laced with hope. My first instinct was that I didn’t belong there during such a private moment. However, that thought was quickly replaced with the assurance that I was there by design.  We prayed together. Tears were shed. I hugged my beautiful friend. I am so blessed having been there…at that time…in that moment.
These dear friends exhibited such grace and unshakeable faith. They know God is in control even in the midst of such terrifying news. In spite of uncertain times ahead, they are experiencing His presence and sovereignty. Sovereignty is defined: the quality of having supreme, independent authority over a territory. Rather fitting, in my opinion, since one of the Hebrew names for our God is Jehovah-Rapha or the Lord who heals. He has complete power and authority over all our diseases…even my friend’s cancer. Another Hebrew name for this God is Jehovah-Jireh or the Lord who provides or more specifically the Lord who will see to it; One who knows my need because He sees.

Now I have a request. If you are reading this blog, I have a request for you. Won’t you join me in storming heaven on behalf of my friend? This is beyond a prayer request. This is a call to join a force of nature. That is the definition of a storm, isn’t it? A powerful, unstoppable force? That is what you are being invited into. A super-natural storm. Let’s raise such a ruckus of the saints that the gates of heaven rattle and shake so that it can not be ignored. Pray for strength. Pray for healing. Pray for courage. Pray for peace. Pray for her twin sons who are looking forward to their first year in college this Fall. Pray for her husband; that he will be able to care for his wife and also experience the Father’s care for him. Pray for the Lord to reveal Himself to this family in ways they can not even think or imagine. Pray for those who will witness this journey along the way and will no doubt sense the fragrance of Christ…may they know what they are witnessing and be forever changed because of it.
AMEN AND AMEN!
