I wrote this several years ago…dedicated to all the little girls who feel they don’t have a voice and to the daddies who wonder how best to love them…

Hold me on your lap, it makes me feel safe
Smile at me, it makes me feel warm and fuzzy
Laugh with me, it makes me feel funny
Kiss me good night, it helps me to have sweet dreams
Show me how to use your tools, it tells me I can do anything
Hug me…often…it makes me feel secure
Look into my eyes, it makes me feel important
Take me out for lunch, it makes me feel special
Ask me what is in my heart, it makes me feel valued
Tell me I’m pretty, it makes me feel beautiful
Dance with me, it makes me feel graceful
Say “I love you” because it is important for me to hear
Let me see you cry, it teaches me tenderness
Ask me my opinion, it makes me feel respected
Love me well…

I’ll take it with me the rest of my life.

  1. I love this poem and I saved it from when you wrote it while you were at Zion…
