Getting started

I have to say, getting started with the first blog post is harder than I thought! Where to start? I guess just to break the ice, I’ll start with the reason behind the sub-title of the blog: “In Our Lives, Lord, Be Glorified!”  You may or may not know the old Sunday School song that goes: In my life, Lord, be glorified, be glorified. In my life, Lord, be glorified today! Eric and I chose this little chorus to close our wedding ceremony; a prayer of sorts to start our new life together. That was almost 18 years ago; but that cry of our hearts remains the same! Often, I look back at the young, carefree couple on that sunny, August afternoon and think: Did we really mean it? Did we truly understand the gravity of the promises we were making that day? Would we go back and do it all over again? I can say, with absolute sincerity and conviction: YES!! (to that last one anyway…)

Along the way we have not always given our best; to one another or to the Lord. There have been moments of intense hardship and of unspeakable joy! There have been seasons of amazing growth in the Lord…often tempered with some wilderness wanderings. But through it all one thing has never, EVER changed. God has remained faithful and He has never stopped inviting us  into the story of His Kingdom unfolding on earth. He has never let us go and has never quit expecting us to keep the promise made through the words of that song.

I find great comfort in  knowing that my place in this life is to be in a constant posture of worship, service, sacrifice…glorifying God! If I can keep that straight in my mind…the rest will flow!
